Firefighting Woodworking Plans

Fire alarm boxes have been a fixture along the streets of New York and other eastern cities for over a century. These antique fire warning symbols are cherished by collectors but are priced out of range for most of us. Why not build your own?

Fire brigade wagons were pulled by two to six horses. Although two horses are pictured here, additional horses could be made and added to this display. The Fire Brigade wagon itself measures 13-1/4 inches long, 8 inches wide and 10-1/4 inches high. The horses measure 10-1/4 inches long, 2-1/4 inches wide and 8-3/4 inches tall. The base measures 26 inches long, although you can make it longer if you want to build more horses. The illustrations for all of the parts are drawn full size.

For the safety of your family, it makes sense to instal fire extinguishers in the home. A fire extinguisher up to 18-1/2 inches tall will fit within this elegant storage container. Approximately 20-1/4 inches high, 11 inches broad, and 8-1/4 inches deep. Full-size images, exploded view diagrams, lumber layouts, and step-by-step directions are all included in this woodworking plan.
