This wishing well is the ideal size for a patio, deck, or even as a home accent. 2x2 lumber is used in short lengths to construct the base. The plywood roof can be covered with metal, shingled, or simply stained. Full-size images, exploded view diagrams, lumber layouts, and step-by-step directions are all included in this woodworking plan. About 40 inches tall.

Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water. The only problem is, the well has a leaky bucket. The water runs out of the holes in the bottom of the bucket. A submersible pond pump (available at hardware stores and garden centres) pumps the water from a large bucket at the bottom of the well into the leaky bucket on top. Jack is positioned so his hands grasp the handle of the wishing well crank.

This wooden wishing well is relatively easy to construct using common size lumber and will be the feature in any garden or yard. The wishing well is almost 900mm (3ft)in diameter and stands almost 2400mm (8ft) high. Most of the well is constructed out of surfaced (dressed) 100x50 (2x4) lumber. The exceptions are the roof boards which are from 150x25mm (1x6inch) stock, and the spindle/handle and washers/handle arm which are from 25x25mm (1x1inch) and 100x25mm (1x4inch) stock respectively. The diameter and height of the well can easily be changed if so required. The diameter (well width) can made bigger or smaller by simply adding or subtracting the number of palings (vertical wall members) around the cylindrical base. The height can be altered by making the two extended palings (roof supports) either longer or shorter.
