If you have used a drill press, you already know why I built this jig. The tables on drill presses are small, the ribs on the bottom make it tough to clamp to them, they lack a fence, and you usually want to put a piece of scrap wood down, so you don not accidentally drill through your project into the metal table.
Drill Press Table for free-standing floor press. Mounts in place of small metal table supplied by Delta on 16 1/2 inch unit. Should be adaptable to other models. Removable/replaceable center for 3 inch sanding drum.
Manufactured stop collars are great for drilling holes at a consistent depth. But they do not help keep the bit square to the board you are drilling into. So I made a simple depth stop jig in my shop that works for both.
Here is a production drilling jig designed to speed up the drilling of multiple parts.

It is no secret that the metal table on a drill press is not suitable for woodworking. But with a couple hours in your shop, you can give it a facelift.
This drill press table offers time-saving setups, super accuracy, and easy adaptability to all kinds of jigs and clamps.
In the past, I used to just clamp a board to my drill press table whenever I needed a fence. But trying to position the fence was awkward. So I came up with a fence design that is easier to use and incorporates a stop block.
Make precise items by the measurements given on particular 2D drawings. The measurements are given in millimeters, and the measurements in inches are given in brackets.
As any drill press user knows, trying to clamp a workpiece directly to the cast iron table can be trying. The reinforcing ribs on the underside of the table can sometimes make positioning and tightening a clamp nearly impossible. After struggling with this problem for far too long, I resolved to solve it.
This jig cuts plugs in long rows on narrow strips of wood, so there is minimal waste left around each plug. And once the plugs are cut, they can be stored on the long, thin strip or cut from the strip using a bandsaw.
A two drawer file cabinet can be easily converted to a drill press stand, most drills will require a base to raise the top of the cabinet to a convenient height. The locking drawers are an excellent place to store power tools out of the reach of small children that may frequent the work area.
A recent project called for drilling a row of very accurately spaced holes. To do this easily on the drill press, I came up with a simple indexing system.
Build this simple jig for measuring the drill bit depth while using a handheld drill.
Bolt a small woodworking vise to a scrap piece of plywood and then clamp the whole thing near the edge of a drill press table and you have an end boring machine.
At the link you will find a video on how to build this spade?drill bit holder.
Follow along at the link and build your own drill press table. There is a video of the build included to help you with your new build. All you need is plywood and these free instructions.
This drill guide jig was built using scrap plywood. If you have to drill accurate holes and don't have a drill press, you may need to take a few minutes to build this plywood drill guide jig. Just follow along at the link to see how to build it.
If you have ever tried to drill a hole in a dowel or odd-shaped object (like a turned leg), you probably know how frustrating a job it can be. It is a real challenge to hold these kinds of workpieces steady and accurately on the flat table of a drill press. And it is even trickier if you have to drill an angled hole. Usually, I wind up cobbling together some jury-rigged device to support the workpiece in question. But since building this adjustable V-block system, that is no longer a problem. The cutting diagrams and materials list are available to download in this Online Extra.
By pairing up a simple jig with your drill press, it is fast and easy to get perfectly vertical holes every time, even in the narrowest pieces of wood.
Here is how to make a quick and easy mortising jig to turn your drill press into an effective mortising machine.
I have seen lots of fancy drill press tables for large drill presses but never anything for the small bench top presses. I decided to take it upon myself to design and build my own. It looks very similar to the big ones and I have used some of ideas that looked like they would fit a small table.
Get your workshop organized or at least your cordless drills. Build this drill charging station and mount it to the wall of your workshop.
Add an adjustable fence to your drill press to make it a lot handier for woodworking projects! A fence is especially useful for drilling rows of precisely placed holes. Also, boring holes in a small workpiece is a snapājust clamp the piece to the fence at any angle and drill the hole.
