We have had so much fun with our one-man ping-pong that I had to share the build so you could have fun with your family as well.

First off I want to say that I am the reigning champion of mini ping-pong / one-man ping-pong.  I only built our game last Monday, so I’m sure I’ll blow my record out of the water as I practice, but the family scores are currently:

Scores are based on how many bounces, going back and forth between sides, you can get before the ball drops.

Here are the very difficult and labour-intensive building plans:

Mini Ping-Pong / One-Man Ping-Pong

2 pieces of scrap wood and a dowel – cut list below

I had some cut-offs of ½” plywood and a 1 1/8″ dowel in my scrap wood bin.  I cut to the lengths above and gave the plywood a thorough sanding to remove as many of the grooves and grain as I could.

I painted the mini ping-pong board and the net with two coats of primer, sanding with 320 grit between coats.  Draw lines around the perimeter at about ½” in.  Tip:  line your pencil up with your marking on a right-angle ruler and then slide the ruler (pencil tight to it) down your board.

Use painter’s tape to block off the sections of your one-man ping-pong that will remain white.

I mixed some leftover sample pots of paint to get a green that is somewhat indicative of a ping-pong table.

Find the centre point of your mini ping-pong board and pre-drill a hole.  Drilling from the painted side down into your dowel, attach the base to the dowel with a 2″ wood screw.

Nice nail polish on those man-hands eh?  Those are the hands of a serial DIYer and mini ping-pong champion.

Use wood glue and finishing nails to attach your net over top of the screw hole and you’re done!

I tried to take photos of Hubby in action, but he’s not very good, so it was tough to capture (total trash-talk here). lol
