Wrap around Tree Bench Plans

This step by step woodworking project is about warp around tree bench plans. We all like to stay in the garden during the hot summer days. If you want to create a super charming relaxation corner, you could build a nice warp around tree bench. I have come up with step by step instructions and a detailed cut list, so you can build this in one weekend. You can build this hexagonal in one weekend. See my other DIY projects HERE.

We recommend you to invest in the best materials you could afford. Therefore, you should buy weather-resistant lumber, such as pine or cedar. Always take accurate measurements before adjusting the size of the components at the proper size. Drill pilot holes trough the components before inserting the wood screws, to prevent the wood from splitting. PDF downloadable plans with premium features in the Store.

How to build a tree bench

Building the legs

Building the legs

The first step of this outdoor furniture project is to build the leg supports. Use 4×4 lumber for the legs and 2×4 lumber for the supports. Drill pilot holes through the supports and then insert 2 1/2″ screws to lock then into place to the legs. I really recommend you to invest in high quality materials that are weather resistant, as the legs will be in contact with the ground and exposed to moisture.

Seat slats

Seat slats

Use 2×6 boards for the seat slats. Use a miter saw to make angle cuts to both ends of the slats, as shown in the diagram. Center the slats to the supports, as shown in the plans. Drill pilot holes and insert 2 1/2″ screws to lock them into place tightly.

Fit  the rest of the seat slats, using the same techniques described above. Work with attention for a professional result and leave no gaps between the slats.

Fitting the trims

Fitting the trims

Fit the 1×6 trims to the sides of the warp around tree bench. Use a miter saw to make the angle cuts to the trims and then lock them into place with 2″ nails. Add glue to the joints for a professional result.

Last but not least, you need to take care of the finishing touches. Therefore, fill the holes with wood putty and smooth the surface with 120-220 grit sandpaper. Apply a few coats of paint or stain to enhance the look of the bench and to protect it from decay. If you like my project, don’t forget to SHARE it on Facebook and Pinterest.
