Duck Pull Toy

Here is the original article straight from
Book No. 4513, PRACTICAL DELTA PROJECTS
NEW & NOVEL THINGS TO MAKE, BOOK 13
DELTA MFG. DIVISION

Pull toys are always amusing, and Mr. Duck's wagging head and jerky bill movement will delight any youngster. The construction is quite simple, an should be readily apparent from the photos and diagrams. The lower portion of the head is cut away on either side to lessen the friction against the cam. This, the cam, supplies the head movement, while the bill movement is worked by means of a string tied to the inside end of the bill and extending down through a hole drilled in the neck to tie onto the metal crossbar. The correct adjustment can be obtained by pushing the head back as far as it will go and then tieing the sting, as shown in the lower photo. When the head is forward, the string goes slack and the bill opens to its fullest extent.
