Pierced Tin Pie Safe Cabinet Vintage Woodworking Plan.

R14-1527 - Pierced Tin Pie Safe Cabinet Vintage Woodworking Plan.
Pie safes with pierced tin door panels were used as a means of protecting pies and meats from insects during the nineteenth century. Today, these cabinets are desirable decorator items and useful storage cabinets. The pie safe shown here has the traditional pierced tin door panels covering a lower storage compartment with shelves. The upper compartment with glass panel door has a concealed light fixture so it can be used to store cookbooks or keep plants. If you want a more traditional look, the upper compartment can be omitted and lower doors lengthened to provide more storage space. This is a vintage woodworking plan.
