This next HouseCall took Ron to the horse capital of the world: Lexington, Kentucky. It is here that Steve and Donna Hoertz live with their children, seven-year-old Tanner and five-year-old Caroline. Caroline had a large desk and shelving unit in her bedroom but Tanners room did not. Ron came to help even things out by creating a wall-mounted desk and shelving set ideal for a young boy.
This ladder-style bookshelf, which requires no particular skill or specialized tools to build, measures 72 inches wide at its base and about 60 inches high. The shelves are simply laid across the rungs of a ladder structure, which can be folded for easy storage.
Besides providing storage, this tool shelf solves another nagging problem as well, it keeps the power cords from getting tangled up like spaghetti. Each power cord fits in a separate compartment directly below the tool.

This is a link to a Google 3D SketchUp drawing for 6 foot workbench to be set against a workshop wall with peg board mounted between the uprights for tool storage. You will need the SketchUp software to download this drawing and its freely available online. We do not provide support for this software. Not all drawings have the measurements displayed but you can use the measurement tool in SketchUp to easily and accurately determine the dimensions of each lumber part.
