Workshop Stand, Planer and Miter Saw

This project was inspired from an article I saw in one of my woodworking books. Unfortunately I could not find the book again so I made my own plans. If you have a small shop like mine then every square inch of space needs to be optimized. This miter saw/planner stand helps serve that purpose. It will get my planer off of the bench and not take up much more area than my miter saw currently uses. It also gives me a couple of really nice drawers to store things.

Workbench Hide-Away

Workspace is at a premium in my small shop. So I built a workbench that folds down from the wall like an ironing board. I made it sturdy enough to handle most tasks. But best of all, it folds away into the wall when I do not need it.

Workshop Finishing Stand

Putting a new spin on finishing your projects. Painting a door is one of those projects that always seems to take twice as long as it should. That is because after painting one side of the door, you have to let the paint dry before you can turn the door over to paint the other side. To get around this problem ShopNotes Editor, Phil Huber, came up with a simple solution. He built a couple of support stands that hold the door without touching it, allowing you to paint both sides at one time.

Workmate Extensions

To give the workstations jaws added capacity, I made a set of four clamp extensions, as shown below. I made my own dogs out of hardwood scraps and 3/4 inch dowels, but you could modify the design to use your workstations own plastic dogs. The extensions add 20 inches of clamping capacity to my Workmate, and have never let me down.
