These plans are based upon the Patrol Food Chest designed by the BSA Engineering Service and recommended in the Jamboree Leader Guide. Note: the materials list shows how to cut all of the pieces out of one 4 ft x 8 ft sheet of 3/4 inches plywood and two 8 ft long 2 inch x 4 inch studs.

Over the years I have made many little wooden boxes. My technique made a huge change after seeing a video made by the late Jim Cummins. His passing was a huge loss for woodworkers as he had the skill and patience to make even the most difficult operations safe and simple. From his video I rethought and changed the way I made the tops, plus learned how to make the boxes have perfect grain matching all the way around.
