Optional, you could add some dimension to the fallen soliders cross by making the cross, helmet, vest, rifle and boots from separate pieces of plywood. For the boots, make two, then put one behind the other. Then position them together like shown in the image. The tags can be made from small pieces of wood and strung together with some rope or chain, like the type you can find at the hardware store that chains the bathtub or sink stopper to a basin.
