It may also be used as a plaque or add cup hooks or pegs to make a key rack, etc. Option - We have added clockworks to the back and numbers to the body to create a nice Country Clock.
Butterflies are beautiful and what is really nice about this pattern is that you can have all the fun you want in choosing your own color combinations! Cut around the perimeter and paint or use the pattern for a scrollsaw silhouette. You could even use the pattern to make an intarsia project. Beginner skill level.
The shield plaque is a popular shape for awards and presentations. The edges may be left square, hand sand to ease the edges or router with a special profile bit. The scroll plaque is popular for displaying decoupage papers and documents. Beginner skill level.

These are simple cutting boards, made from scraps of 3/4 inch pine. They are excellent for cutting onions and garlic to keep odors from your regular cutting board or use as trivets for hot pots. We also cut from 3/4 inch maple to use as serving bread boards, cheese boards (good gift with crackers and cheese), cutting sandwiches, etc. Leave them unfinished or use a salad bowl finish. This is three patterns...Pig, Strawberry and Fish. It may look confusing, but its simple to see once you start tracing a line. Beginner skill level using a scroll saw.
This was my first pattern, made when I was just learning to use a coping saw and bit and brace and was too small to reach the top of the workbench! Cut from 3/4 inch pine. Round over all edges and leave natural or stain as desired. Stain is better than paint because the gun can be stained again when it gets nicked and dented. Beginner skill level using a scrollsaw.

This puzzle looks simple...but its not! Cut from 1/2 or 3/4 inch pine or hardwood. The pieces may be stained, left natural,or painted the same or different colours as you choose. This pattern is a good way to practice the straight lines and precise angles. An easy project for kids to tackle to teach them patience and control. This is a 1 page pattern. Beginner skill level using a scroll saw should be able to accomplish this project easily.
This design looks best when off the ground and we recommend suspending it from a tree branch or fence with wire or string or wall mounting. This is easily done by drilling a small hole in the top of the hat and broom. This is a 7 page pattern. Beginner skill level using a jig saw should be able to accomplish this project easily.
Simply adjust the hole size and cavity or interior size for different species of birds. This is called a Wren House, but quite a few small birds will call it home. You may also mix and match siding materials. Resize to suit your needs. Beginner skill level.
Almost any design may be used as a Shelf backing or Mirror Plaque, but this Heart is excellent. It offers a large inside area for maximum mirror size. The shelf may be rectangular, free form or a semicircle as shown in the sketch. Attach to the back with glue. Drill a countersink hole for hanging. Paint or finish as you prefer.
Country signs and are very popular and simple to make. The lettering may be painted, wood burned or routed to suit your skills. The Sheep may be wall mounted or hang from screw eyes in the top edge. Cut from 3/4 or 1-1/2 inch thick stock and round over edges with a router or shaper. Again, we try to make all of our projects useful rather than purely decorative and signs are a great way to all the plaque shapes. Of course, the Sheep may also be used in any other of the projects described in our Primitive Patterns projects.
Of course, this pattern may be used for dowel stands, napkin stands and most of the other Country Projects that we offer. Mix and match the projects and patterns for a wide variety of designs!
Here we have our easy to make alphabet bookends. Easy to cut and paint using the smallest of scrap wood pieces or leave a natural wood color. Simply size the craft pattern to how you want it to be and print the drawing. Then its a matter of trace, cut and paint. Beginner skill level.
Our Mini-Bracket Shelf is an excellent accent piece in a hall or entrance where something narrow is required. Cut from 1/2 inch pine. Assemble with glue. Finish as desired (we prefer stain and a flat or matte clear finish). Beginner skill level.

These mini-shapes can be used in country style craft projects. This page will deal mainly with detailing these small shapes. Of course, they may be decoratively painted if you have the skill, but there are other useful techniques too. Try dipping the pieces in stain and then painting a single detail such as a heart or design over the stain. Dip the pieces in a wash (thinned paint that is opaque similar to stain) and paint detail lines or use a permanent ink felt pen or paint pen. Try an antique finish by painting the plaque a light color and when dry, lightly wipe with a dark stain to age the paint. See the patterns for more options. Beginner skill level.
Groupings may also be made without any platform or connection between the pieces. Set these Ducks on a shelf or table as a grouping and they will be quite effective. Place larger more detailed pieces to the front and smaller less detailed pieces toward the rear. You may also cut accessories such as a Cat-o-nine-tail or other plant, simple rock, log, etc. to add to the grouping. Cut these from 3/4 inch stock. Round over edges of larger Duck for a more natural look.
