Check your own scrap pile against the materials list before you set out for the lumber yard. You may very well have some material on hand left over from a previous job. We show fieldstone for the well walls but other masonry materials are also suitable. Wind a few turns of the rope onto the windlass drum and tie on the bucket. The plan shows you how to build the bucket. A unique use of the well is an outdoor cold drink server. The well interior will hold a large wash tub full of ice. Simply reach in, grab a cold one and sit on the cool stone under the shade of the roof.
