French-American Sleigh Bed Woodworking Plan

Here is an Americanized version of the French empire style. The name sleigh bed is derived from the scrolled, sleigh-like head and footboard. This project has the builder using a band saw to achieve the curvature of the legs, no steaming required. Both headboard and footboard are designed with large raised panels for an elegant appearance. Plans help you build either a full size, or queen size bed. We recommend cherry, maple, or birch. Dimensions: (Largest) Queen, 63-1/8 inches wide, 87 inches long; Full, 57-1/8 inches wide, 82 inches long. This is a blueprint style plan which is heralded by beginners and experts alike as being a pleasure to work from because all parts are printed in full size -- all joinery is shown in actual size, curved workpieces are all in full size, therefore you can measure and trace straight from the drawing if necessary. A Bill of Materials doubles as a cutting list, a detailed exploded diagram and all hardware requirements are listed. Because this is an older plan, a *shopping list* and *cutting diagram* are not provided. The exploded diagram is sufficiently detailed that project specific assembly instructions are not provided.
