Cabinet, Gun Case and Trophy
A lockable display case can be used to store and display guns, trophies or treasured heirlooms. The case shown is made of walnut, one of the most beautiful woods, and a classic for this type of project. The walnut was grown on the author’s farm, harvested and air dried for about five years. The bottom doors are beautifully figured crotch walnut. Oak, pecan or cherry could also be used. |

This gun cabinet was fun to make, tho a little more difficult. I tried to get someone to etch the glass with a deer or something but they all wanted too much. The cabinet stands 71 inches tall and holds eight rifles above, hand guns below, and ammo in the draw. This attractive wall cabinet hangs at a convenient height and is particularly useful if you do not have much available floor space. It will hold up to four rifles with maximum length of 47 inches. If this will not accommodate your firearms, you can extend the width. The doors are designed to be fitted with locks for security and the two drawers are to be equipped with locking pins, removable only from the inside of the gun storage compartment. Gun Cabinet for 8 Guns
Eight guns can be displayed behind the double glass doors of this fine piece. This cabinet has won blue ribbons at competitions for many woodworkers. The styling goes well with most modern and country decor, pending finishing techniques and lumber selection. The base cabinet doors lock separately. For a slightly different look, change the lower door faces as did the customer who sent the color photo seen left. Intermediate to advanced in skill level, this project is something to be proud of and use in everyday life. As you can see, the plans are quite modifiable, as one customer changed the molded doors to raised panel as shown here, and another turned his gun cabinet into a wine cabinet, as is pictured below the main photo. Dimensions: 14 inches deep, 38 inches wide, 73 inches high. This is a blueprint style plan which is heralded by beginners and experts alike as being a pleasure to work from because all parts are printed in full size -- all joinery is shown in actual size, curved workpieces are all in full size, therefore you can measure and trace straight from the drawing if necessary. A bill of materials doubles as an exact cutting list, there is a detailed exploded diagram, and all hardware requirements are provided. The exploded diagram so detailed that project specific assembly instructions are not provided.
